Keeping up with its commitment of bringing unconventional concepts, Sony Entertainment Television launches the historical magnum opus – ‘Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap’. The historical drama that narrates the awe-inspiring story of Pratap Singh, one of the first freedom fighters that India ever saw is produced by Contiloe Telefilms. It narrates the 400 year-old story of the revolutionary Rajput warrior ‘Maharana Pratap’ and brings forth the lesser known facts and achievements he made during his lifetime. Multi-talented Superstar Mr. Amitabh Bachchan lends his baritone voice for the first time in a television series to introduce Maharana Pratap’s history on Monday, May 27 at 10 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
Maharana Pratap is a synonym to Rajput valor, chivalry and perseverance. He was a standalone fighter against Mughal aggression and never bent down to any temptation. He was loved by his men and they stood by him in his fight for independence. Gallantry and love for freedom was in Rana’s blood as he was the grandson of Rana Sangha and the son of Udai Singh. Pratap faced extreme hardship living the life of a fugitive but never gave up his struggle for freedom.
Bharat Ka Veer Putra Maharana Pratap will recount events starting from Pratap’s growing years – the training in his childhood, to the warfare and marvelous contributions he made to the history of India as the warrior Rajput. The show charts the journey of Maharana Pratap’s life right from adolescence to his glorious rise as a leader which led him being rechristened as the first freedom fighter of India. It will also present an important aspect of the legends story - his mother Maharani Jaivantha Bai Songara, a driving force that inspired him and was instrumental in cultivating the spirit of bravery and humanism in him.
Besides narrating uncharted incidents from his life, the show highlights the relationship between mother-son Jaivantha Bai (played by Rajshree Thakur) and Pratap (played by Faisal Khan) that became an integral part of Pratap's fight for Mewar.

The show brings together some of the most talented set of actors to essay these powerful roles from history. Playing the protagonist, the fearless hero of Mewar – Maharana Pratap is Faisal Khan. Portraying the visionary character of Maharana Uday Singh, Pratap’s father is Shakti Anand, Jaivantha Bai – Pratap’s mother, his source of strength and inspiration will be played by Rajshree Thakur. Aashka Goradia plays Rani Bhatiyani and Divyaalakshmi plays Rani Sajja Bai, Pratap’s step mothers and they are ably supported by an ensemble of fine actors playing various characters.
