Currently playing “Natasha Kapoor” or "Nuts" in Bade Acche Lagtey Hai, this lovely Bengali lass is no stranger to Tinsel Town. Flawless skin, beautiful eyes, full lips, all that oomph and let’s not forget the talent…well what else can a girl ask for? Tinsel Gupshup brings you the secrets behind Sumona’s glowing skin!
You have beautiful skin, please share your regimen with us (morning and night)
My regimen involves basic cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice a day without fail. I have been following this regimen since I was 16
As an actor, you have to wear make-up for long hours, endure strong lights day in and day out, how do you protect your skin when you are shooting?
I have to admit that I am blessed with good skin so I wear very light and minimal makeup. Having said that, I am very particular about the quality of my makeup, good quality is an absolute must.
At shoots, do you wear your own brand of make-up?
Yes I do! 90% of my makeup is from MAC
What is the one skin care product you absolutely cannot do without?
That will have to be my Clinique gel day moisturizer and MAC lip balm
How do you deal with the occasional break-out?
I rarely get break-outs and mostly I get a heat boil so I just let them be and they go away in a day or two. The important thing is that I make sure not to touch them.
When it comes to skin care and make-up products are you an impulsive shopper or do you research before you buy and try?
Actually, I don’t experiment with my products too much. Over the years I have realized what suits me so I stick to my tried and trusted products. Once in a Blue moon, I’ll probably try out a new product but that happens very rarely
How do you pamper your skin? (Spa treatments, masks)
Every 2-3 months, I’ll go for a cleanup. Also, since childhood I use “Malai, Haldi and Doodh” regime on a weekly basis and once in 3 months I go for a full body cleansing and exfoliation massage in a spa.
Your favorite face wash and moisturizing cream? Favorite brands?
All my skincare products are from Clinique so that includes Face wash, Cleansing milk, Toner, Day-cream, Night-cream, under eye cream….
What products do you carry in your handbag?
Lip Balm and Kajal
What is your magic home remedy? Something your mother or grandmother taught you?
After cleansing your face, gently rub an ice cube all over your face and see the instant glow on your face! Also, Malai is actually very good for your skin and an Egg mask provides excellent nourishment for your hair
Late night shoots, you wake up feeling blah...what do you do for a skin pick me up?
On days when I am really exhausted, after cleansing I rub an ice cube and then spray Forest Essentials Hydrating Toner on my face. I wake up feeling super fresh with super duper soft and glowing skin!
One actor (female - Films, Television or Hollywood) who you think has flawless and beautiful skin?
Kareena kapoor
Do you like to try new products or do you prefer to stick to what works for you?
I stick to my products.
Do you do anything in particular for your skin before an important event, evening, photo-shoot?
I get my beauty sleep! That is just so important for healthy skin
Any product that you absolutely rave about and swear by? (After using this product you have called you friends up and said - Oh my God, you have to try this)
My MAC makeup remover for the eyes and lips and Clinique’s Cleansing Milk. I absolutely swear by those two products and use them religiously! I have to go to bed with a clean face.
What is Sumona's trademark make-up style?
Fresh look, Kohled eyes and lip balm
The best beauty advice / tip you have ever received
Earlier, I would avoid eyeliner and I would use my base to reduce the size of my lips but then someone told me that I am blessed with beautiful big eyes and full lips so I should not hide them instead I should flaunt them!! I used to be very conscious about my big eyes and lips but now people tell me that my lips remind them of Angelina Jolie….and mine are 100% natural!! So now, I don’t downplay my lips and eyes!
