SUPPORT STAR PLUS’s APPEAL FOR THE SET UP OF ONE STOP RAPE CRISIS CENTERS
STAR PLUS’s iconic show Satyamev Jayate raised the critical issue of rape and how women are repeatedly made to relive the trauma at different stages of the investigation by the police, doctors and lawyers. The show proposed the creation of One Stop Rape Crisis Centers across every district of the country that will provide the victim with medical attention, police help and legal counsel all under one roof. Star Plus is taking this agenda forward with its iconic character, Sandhya from Diya Aur Baati Hum. The channel ran a hard hitting public service message at the end of the Satyamev Jayate’s episode on Fighting Rape, with Sandhya urging viewers to support the initiative of setting-up of One Stop Rape Crisis Centers. Sandhya appeals to the viewers to Vote for Change and come forward and support this initiative by giving a missed call on the Toll Free No - 1800 103 2301.
Nikhil Madhok, Senior Vice-President Marketing & Programming Strategy, Star Plus said, "Our agenda with the Vote for Change campaign is very clear - to drive awareness and help bring about change. Women’s Safety is an issue of core importance to Star Plus and we are committed to address this through our communication and content, which has a massive reach and an ability to make a difference in the way people think. Sandhya, a soon-to-be an IPS officer, stands as an inspiration to millions of women and with her championing this cause we are positive that people will come forward and support this movement.”
Talking about this initiative, Sandhya said, “While a woman is responsible for her own safety, the society has to ensure a conducive environment for her. She is not to be blamed for someone else's crime! It is time that we all step outside and unanimously appeal for the set-up of One Stop Rape Crisis Center in every district of the county. I urge all my fans and people to join our mission and make this happen.”
